Flip through our newest issues, meet the soda-slinging duo serving up fizzy nostalgia across RI, scope out this weekās canāt-miss events, + more!

The birds are back to their morning chatter, the temps are finally nudging into the 60s, and our fresh April mags have officially landed on stands across Rhody. Not a bad way to kick things off, right? We could go on (and on) about everything tucked inside this monthās issues, but weāll show a little restraint and let you discover the good stuff for yourself. Instead, in todayās newsletter, youāll meet the duo behind one of Rhode Islandās favorite soda vans, get a peek at whatās making our calendar this week, and find a few more reasons to get out and enjoy the season.
Fresh Off the Press (and Full of Ways to Refresh Your Space)
April is almost here ā and with it, a fresh burst of inspiration in our Annual Home issues. Consider this your invitation to shake off winter and reimagine your space, with creative ways to let your personality shine indoors and out. From eye-catching color and pattern to Rhody-made goods for the design-obsessed, these pages are packed with ideas, plus expert tips to help your garden grow, smart resources, and easy updates to spruce things up for the season ahead. Beyond the home, grab Providence Monthly for a peek inside the world of a wood-fired pizza chef, dive into the soupy-making traditions of Westerly in So Rhode Island, and sit down with Jay Leno in The Bay. And be sure not to miss Hey Rhodyās special boating section ā then find your copy around town or go digital to explore it all online.
A Mobile Soda Shop is Shaking Up Rhode Islandās Drink Scene
What started as a reality TV-inspired idea has turned into Rhody Pop, a retro-cool soda truck bringing fizzy nostalgia to farmers markets, football games, and beyond. With playful flavors, a loyal following, and a vibe that feels like a rolling block party, this is summer in a cup, no matter the season. Read more online.

Where Play Leads the Way
If you think play is just for kids, the Providence Children's Museum would like a word.
For nearly 50 years, this South Street staple has been redefining what it means to learn, grow, and connect as a family. Inside, you wonāt find quiet galleries or hands-off displays. Instead, itās a lively, hands-on world where children build, climb, experiment, and create, often all before lunch. Itās all part of PCMās belief that play isnāt extra. Itās essential.
Every exhibit is designed with intention. Kids are encouraged to solve problems, test ideas, and explore STEM concepts in ways that feel natural and fun. Along the way, theyāre building confidence, creativity, and social skills without even realizing it. For parents and caregivers, itās a place that feels equal parts joyful and meaningful.
What truly sets PCM apart is its commitment to access. Through free and reduced admission programs, partnerships with community organizations, and specialized initiatives for families in foster care and other support systems, the museum works to make sure every child has a seat at the table. Or more accurately, a turn at the building station.
That mission takes on a festive twist this spring with Cocktails and Kicks Anchored in Play, a fundraising gala on April 16 from 6 to 10 pm. The evening brings the community together for a good cause, with live entertainment from Kara McKee, a collaborative LEGO mural led by Rhode Island brick artist Andy Grover, and a raffle and auction that directly support access programs.
Itās a night built on the same idea that powers the museum every day. When play is accessible, everyone wins. Learn more and purchase tickets online at providencechildrensmuseum.org.

Rhody Recs is your weekly roundup of whatās happening across the state, a built-in excuse to rally the crew early instead of scrambling for plans at the last minute. Because letās be real, lifeās too short to leave the fun for last minute.
