Run for Ronald McDonald House Families This Fall with HIGHBAR Physical Therapy

Lace up your running shoes for a race that’s about more than who crosses the finish line first. The HIGHBAR Physical Therapy Women’s Classic 5K Run and 3K Walk unfolds on October 13 and invites all ages to run along a flat course that takes participants through the scenic streets of Providence’s East Side while celebrating women and raising money for the Ronald McDonald House.

For 35 years, the Ronald McDonald House has been providing a “home away from home” for families with seriously ill children. Removing the financial burden of hotel stays, the non-profit organization offers a supportive network of resources to ensure that parents can always be close by. “Our House enables families to spend more time with their sick child, alleviates financial stress, maintains a sense of normalcy, and keeps families together during medical crises,” relays chief advancement officer Ellen Simmons.

You don’t need to be an Olympic medalist to show up on race day and uplift the Ronald McDonald House’s mission. In addition to the HIGHBAR 5K run, the Cardi’s Furniture and Mattresses walk lets participants opt for a slower pace. There will be cash prizes for top finishers overall and in each age group.

“The HIGHBAR Physical Therapy Women’s Classic is the only all women's race in Rhode Island,” says Simmons, “but there is something for everyone at this event! Families are invited to participate in the free kids’ races on the Brown University Track and Residential Properties LTD Kids’ Village, featuring games and activities,” along with raffle prizes and a vibrant health and wellness fair. Whether you’re setting out for a new personal record or cheering on your friends, there’s no better way to give back to the community.
